How do stars form?
Indeed, sir, the process by which stars are born is a marvellous spectacle of cosmic activity.
It all begins in vast clouds of gas and dust known as nebulae. These regions, often spanning hundreds of light-years, are composed mainly of hydrogen and helium. When something, be it a nearby explosion or the gravitational pull of another celestial body, disturbs this cloud, it starts to collapse under its own gravity. As the material contracts, it heats up, forming a dense core known as a protostar.
As time passes, the protostar continues to gather more gas and dust from its surroundings, growing in size and temperature until nuclear fusion ignites at its heart, marking the birth of a full-fledged star.
