Why do we sneeze when we see bright light?

The reason we sometimes sneeze when exposed to bright light is known as the photic sneeze reflex. This phenomenon occurs because the trigeminal nerve, which is responsible for facial sensations and the sneeze reflex, is also stimulated by bright light. When a person with this reflex looks into a sudden or intense light source, such as sunlight after being in a dark room, their brain sends signals that trigger a sneeze. This reaction is believed to be inherited and affects around one in four people. While it may seem odd, it's simply an unusual but harmless connection between vision and the nasal passages.
